How Do I Create Custom User Fields?

To create custom fields:
  1. Go to the Contacts | Your Lists tab to view all your lists.

  2. Click on the Manage List button for the list that you would like to add custom fields to, and you will see its List Snapshot page.

  3. Click on the Custom Fields tab.

  4. Enter the field name, e.g. Business.

  5. Next, choose from four field types: Text, Number, Option – Select Only One, or Option – Select One Or More.

    1. Text: a text field that accepts alphanumeric characters, e.g. Name and Email.

    2. Number: a number field is also a text field, but it is a special text field that only accepts numbers, e.g. a Postal Code field.

    3. Option – Select Only One: this is a radio button or a drop-down option that allows subscribers to choose only one of the many options that you might provide. E.g. Gender – Male or Female

    4. Option – Select One Or More: this is a check box field that allows your subscribers to choose more than one option.  E.g. a Hobbies field, where subscribers can check cycling, reading and surfing the web.

  6. Next, click on the Add This Field button, and the page will be updated with the custom field that you have just added.

  7. If you need to edit the custom field, click on the Edit button and you will see that the custom field row is now displayed in edit mode, allowing you to make changes.  Make your required changes and click Save or Cancel to exit from the edit mode.

All the default custom fields and those created by you will be available when creating a form, adding subscribers manually and under personalization when you create a campaign.

Do note that if you have created custom fields and mapped your subscriber data to these fields, you should not delete the custom fields because all the data related to the custom fields will also be deleted.
